I was born and raised in Hastings and whakapapa to Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Rongomaiwahine, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Te Ātihaunui-a-Papārangi and Ngāti Hāua ki Wanganui. In 2002 I graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Criminology and Māori studies. In 2004 I graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Laws degree. I was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in the Napier High Court in 2005. I have been practicing as a lawyer since 2006 in Manukau, Auckland. In 2023 I returned to Hawkes Bay - Te Matau a Māui.

I am an approved duty lawyer, PAL 1 criminal lawyer, court approved youth advocate and lawyer for child. However, other than court appointed work, I am only available for limited family legal aid or private family matters.

I act for parents and whānau who are trying to navigate through the family court system for Oranga Tamariki, Family Violence and Care of Children Act proceedings.

I am a trustee for the Puketapu Fernhill Reserve Trust. I am member of Te Hunga Rōia NZ Māori Law Society and the Family Law Section. In the past I was a committee member on the Family Violence Death Review Committee and a trustee for Mahitahi Trust in Manukau a Kaupapa Māori mental health provider.
